My Studio
about//
As a teacher--whether helping a student learn the basics of notation, increase their understanding, or develop and perfect their technique--my purpose is to midwife and support the process of growth and expansion. We start where we are and embark upon a path together, teacher and student, to unleash the music within! Always we match the tools and the resources to the needs of the student.
Advanced students are welcome to come to my studio for performance coaching, taking deep dives into the repertoire to discern the means by which the music may be perfected within and performance skills thus elevated. I am available for in-person lessons here at my home and studio on Whidbey Island or Zoom lessons from anywhere!

"Sheila's passion for music is infectious. I love watching her joy as she plays. Her ability to help her students find the feeling in the music and to play cleanly and with love is what I appreciate most about her teaching. She made my fingers more sensitive and precise in just a few lessons."
~Peggy Gilmer
"Sheila is a masterful musician, a wonderful and patient teacher, with a wealth of knowledge of music history and style. But her true gift is as a guide to the spirit, soul, and heart of the music."
~Cameron Gray
"At my first lesson with Sheila I knew I had found the right teacher. Learning to play the piano is difficult, and the student’s progress depends on good teaching and practice. Sheila taught me how to practice properly and the importance of playing with feeling. She is an artist with great passion, and her love of music inspired me to continue learning and improving my musical skills."
